FUCKING FRIDAY X LOVE HATE BAKE

Of all the many wild parties that come and go in Tokyo, my favourite night out is without a doubt FUCKING FRIDAY.
Fucking Friday occurs every two months at Tokyo Salon Aoyama , and is a guaranteed night of madness and frivolity. Check your coat and your dignity at the door, this notoriously epic night of fun is always one to remember…or not as the case may be…Thank goodness for party snaps!

It is hosted by my good friend slash BFF and fellow Aussie living in Tokyo, Adam Munnings, also known as one half of the DJ duo XUXU and model with Exiles Tokyo.
What a cool guy!

Fucking Friday has played host to such DJs as Elli-Rose (VANCLIFF D), Madamoiselle Yulia and The Furs . Tokyo socialites and celebrities never fail to appear, including, but not limited to well known models and bloggers.

The most recent encarnation of Fucking Friday, which occurred just last week, was called Spring Fling, and welcomed in the sakura season with a bang. (And I’m on the flyer! whoooooooo!)

I had the pleasure of getting my bake on for this wicked night, in the form of cupcake flavoured Jello shots! TOO GOOD. Alcohol, cake and Jello?…Get the fuck out! What could be more awesome?

NOTHING.

About a million years ago, Shana sent me a link to this recipe, which we both thought was maaadd cute! Later on while discussing Important Party Business with Mr Munnings, over a bottle or three of Jacobs Creeks Cabernet (the good shit), it occurred to me that a LHB x Fucking Friday collaboration would be the coolest thing ever. And so it was decided, we would make cupcake jello shots for the next Fucking Friday.

The restaurant above Tokyo Salon, Las Chicas, was kind enough to lend us their kitchen for a few hours to make these killer shots. A last minute mission to Asaksa for two hundred shot cups, 6 packs of Ichigo (strawberry) flavoured jello, a (THANKYOU JAPAN) 1000yen bottle of Gibleys vodka later, and we we ready to go. For the ‘cupcake’ flavour we used cookies and cream liqueur, totally yum!

The recipe is crazy easy, you simply follow the directions on the back of any jello pack, but replace the WATER component with HALF BOOZE and HALF juice or flavoured water. Or just water if you want to keep the alcohol taste, I guess. So we did half the liquid as vodka and cookies and cream liqueur, and half water with strawberry sauce, the same kind as you would use for a strawberry milkshake.
For the ‘frosting’ we piped (by we I mean Shana, her piping skills own mine. I watched her pipe. I’m into that.) whipped cream (whipped up by the super helpful Las Chicas chefs, ARIGATO NICOLA)  in kawaii spirals and finished with some colourful sprinkles on top.

The first one hundred partiers to enter Fucking Friday-Spring Fling were treated to a cheeky cupcake shot to start the night, and needless to say they were a hit, and disappeared in no time at all.
